This is a part of our tour ICE 7 which is a guided daytour from Reykjavík to the top of the Langjökull glacier. We drive with the Ice Explorer from the edge of the glacier from 650 meters upto 1378 meters.  We will explore the glacier and see it from inside. We can view the ash and snow layers many years back in history. Tour continues to Thingvellir, Gullfoss and Geysir.

This tour takes you to the farming district of Borgarfjörður to the highest flow hot spring in Europe, Deildartunguhver, with florate of 180 liters per second.  We will visit the lava waterfalls Hraunfossar, drive through the woodlands of Húsafell and up to the desert highlands by Langjökull glacier.  At the roots of the glacier we will board our Ice Explorer which will take us to the top of Europe’s second largest glacier.  We will explore the glacier and experience the unique travelling on the snow and  the 600 meters thick solid glacier.  We will learn about its movement and see how the melting water forms rivers and lagoons.  Furthermore we observe how the glacier is getting smaller because of global warming. 

The Ice Explorer will leave you by the glacier camp for overnight.

Tour continues the day after over highland track of Kaldidalur through the  National Park of Thingvellir and further to waterfall Gullfoss and famous Geysir before returning to Reykjavík.
