For the first time you have the possibility to camp on the glacier.  You do not have to be an explorer or scientist to overnight on the glacier.

You will be provided with all camping gear needed (tent, sleepingbag, madrass, food, extra clothing gear such as overall).  Staying overnight on the glacier is a once in a lifetime experience.  Watching the sunset and the sunrise as the midnight sun lights up the horizon.  You will take part in preparing the food with the other participants – led by the glacier guide who will take care of your safety on the glacier.

For those who are driving their own car and would like to join the ICE 5 you take road 550/551 which is for all cars. 

We drive with the Ice Explorer Man 8x8  from the edge of the glacier from 650 meters upto 1378 meters to the top of the ice cap.  We will explore the glacier and see it from inside. We can view the ash  and snow layers many years back in history. 

At the roots of the glacier we will board our Ice Explorer that will take us to the top of Europe’s second largest glacier.  We will explore the glacier and experience the unique travelling on snow and  the thick solid blue icefield.  We will learn about its movement and see cravaces, icecaves and how the melting water forms rivers and lagoons.  Furthermore we observe how the glacier is getting smaller because of global warming.

Departure from from the edge of the glacier at Kaldidalur, 30 minutes drive from Húsafell.  This road is for all cars.
